It all started early one morning in 1989. I watched a show with Larry Dahlberg and he was fishing in Canada for pike… But he was using a fly rod, which was unheard of back then. If you remember the show, one of the fish bit his hand! That was all it took, I was hooked!!
Now at that time, in Missoula, Montana there wasn’t anyone that tied flies locally that would hold up to even a small pike. I tried every fly shop in town, with no luck. So I decided to start tying my own. I was told by lots of skilled fishermen that it couldn’t be done, pike on a fly, no way. Now 20 plus years and thousands of northern pike later…
